Hey friends. The dark moon in Cancer happens around 3:20 in the morning on July 14 here in New Orleans, with the sun and the moon both at 21 degrees of Cancer, and Mercury retrograde sitting right there with them.
I will be honest with you, this one is kicking my behind. Everything feels bubbly to me, like you are floating in water with the bubbles going past you and you cannot get your feet on anything. Part of that is the retrograde. Part of it is that this moon cycle is ending and beginning in the middle of a season instead of at the edge of one, which happens sometimes and always feels disjointed to me.
So let me go around the horn. Mercury, the moon, and the sun are all conjunct in Cancer. Jupiter has moved into Leo. The nodes are still holding at 0 degrees. Venus has moved into Virgo, and so has White Moon Selene. Black Moon Lilith is in Capricorn. Pluto and Juno are conjunct in Aquarius. Neptune is at 4 degrees of Aries, Saturn at 14, with Vesta and Eris conjunct in Aries as well. Chiron has just moved into Taurus at 0 degrees, another karmic turning point, though he will retrograde back into Aries later. And Sedna, Uranus, and Mars are all together in Gemini.
The piece I want you to sit with is the grand trine between Venus, Black Moon Lilith, and Chiron. Those are feminine energies, and the sun and moon and Mercury are in cardinal water, which is feminine too. To me the whole thing is a recalibration about getting back into the body.
The body is the home. We have been living outside of it for a long time.
That is really what this dark moon is asking. Now that you are starting to understand you can feel safe at home, and that home is your own body, what does that actually look like day to day? Because most of us do not know yet. When you start to feel safe in there, and when you put up boundaries that hold, everything around you starts to change.
Vesta and Eris are conjunct in Aries, and that is worth naming. Vesta is the hearth, the fire at the heart of the home. Eris is discord. Together in Aries, which is the I am presence, they are shaking up the home energies and asking who you are now. Parts of the answer are arriving. Most of us are not sure yet how to present it. Take your time with that.
The retrograde is doing its usual thing with memory. I have had the strangest childhood things surface this week. The other night I remembered exactly what the local news looked like when I lived in Oregon, the way the graphics came up. I have not thought about that in decades. And of course it is the news, which is communication, during a Mercury retrograde. You do not have to do anything with those. Just observe them.
Then there is the bigger backdrop. Pluto at 4 degrees of Aquarius. Neptune at 4 degrees of Aries. Uranus at 4 degrees of Gemini. Jupiter right there in Leo. Aquarius, Aries, Gemini, Leo. That is fire and air, and we have been living on the water and earth axis for a very long time. Those young degrees are the not quite formed yet degrees. We know we can get there. We are not sure how. That is a legitimate place to be standing.
Juno being conjunct Pluto is asking how we are in right relation. Giving and receiving. Sun and moon, masculine and feminine, in Cancer, the sign of the home. Where are you actually able to receive? Not where are you able to produce. Where can you take something in.
So my advice for this one is small. Give yourself space. Get some rest. It is a liminal time, the moon is dark and we cannot see her, and that is the part of the cycle where transformation happens without an audience. You do not have to know what to do with your hands.
